Bert Beirne
A native of
Cincinnati, Ohio, Bert Beirne received her BFA at the University
of Cincinnati. A Georgia resident for over two decades, where
she is developing and perfecting her approach to still life,
Beirne chooses her subjects from a variety of materials and
textures, including Madeira cloths, Persian rugs, metal, glass,
porcelain, books and fruit, and she plans, selects and sets them
up to produce contrasts of color, texture and value, and to show
the interplay of light on those objects. She is especially
interested in creating the movement of light across the painting
and begins each with multiple layers of oil on Belgium linen or
gessoed panels.
