Artist’s Statement:
At once sarcastic and sincere, Cassie Taggart’s comi-tragic tableaus invite
the viewer into a world dynamically and intentionally at odds with itself.
In scenes with eclectic interiors and eccentric inhabitants, Taggart layers
humor with tragedy, depravity with purity, the mundane with the mysterious.
Born in 1967 in Alexandria, VA, Taggart was raised in New York City. Academically trained in painting, with a Fine Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, she has also studied in Sienna, Italy and New Hampshire. Her work has been exhibited in New York City, Washington, DC, Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
