Alyson Weege was born in Redwood City California and currently resides in Havre De Grace MD. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Alabama. She also completed a Post-Graduate Study in Painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and received her Masters of Fine Arts Degree from the George Washington University in 1981.
In 2004 she was awarded an Individual Artists Grant from the Maryland State Arts Council and has received recognition for her still life and figurative paintings, which often include psychologically, charged subject matter. In addition to her still life and figurative work she also is an accomplished equine portrait artist and has exhibited her horse painting at the Museum of the Horse in Lexington Kentucky. She has exhibited her work in shows throughout the United States and was recently featured in a solo show at the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art in Wilmington Delaware. Her work has been reviewed in numerous publications including Art In America and Art Papers and she was selected by Howard Fox, Curator Los Angeles Museum of Art for inclusion in the publication “New American Paintings” Volume 27, 2001.
