   Lou Kaplan

Lou Kaplan, a lawyer who specialized in mental health law and later had a second career as a painter until he passed away in 2009, began his career as an artist after working as a founding partner of Carr, Bonner, O'Connell & Kaplan in the late 1960s, teaching at Georgetown University law school and in 1974, joining the Psychiatric Institutes of America as executive vice president and general counsel where he remained until the business was sold in 1982, retiring to devote himself to art. As an artist, he worked at studios in his homes in Washington DC and Aspen, Colorado, specializing in watercolors, oils, acrylics and prints. He studied at the Corcoran School of Art and Design and in Florence, Italy and Snowmass, Colorado.
