SUZANNE BRENNAN FIRSTENBERG
Biography

On Wednesday, November 9th, 2016, many across the United States woke to the specter of a Trump presidency. Unable to square their own values with the election results, they adopted the Brexit protestorsí symbol of the safety pin as a sign of solidarity with those targeted by hate campaigns. The safety pin demonstrates the respect the wearer has for all victims of ignorance, bigotry, and xenophobia: Muslims, immigrants, refugees, members of the LGBTQ communities, the disabled, and women.
