Michael Young

Artist’s Statement: I became interested in light and discovered film at Columbia College, and continued my studies at the University of Wisconsin Madison. My work in metals, wood, and lighting have informed my collaboration with architects and designers. My goal is to create the new antiques, by respecting tradition and creating work that scales to our new environments.
Although my work includes metals such as stainless steel, bronze, and copper, other materials including wood, ceramics, and lighting are treated as equals. I am able to balance the materials to respect the vision of the environment my clients wish to create. This balance creates pieces that are truly unique.
As an artist and craftsman, my work in metal and wood has a level of maturity that extends beyond the typical. Our collaboration can create memorable results that exceed expectations. Whether it is furniture, environments, or custom signage, my studio can help to create the message you wish to communicate.
